The fashion for healthy lifestyles and physical activity has been around for some time. More and more people are playing sports, and fitness clubs are experiencing a real siege. However, there are also those who definitely value outdoor activity more. To meet these expectations, outdoor gyms have been developed. The equipment they are equipped with is exposed to the weather. To make sure they work properly, they should be subjected to regular inspection and maintenance.
Outdoor gyms are included in legal acts that treat them as objects of minor architecture. The Construction Law thus imposes an obligation on owners and managers of such facilities to maintain them in proper technical and aesthetic condition. They must therefore take care to prevent deterioration of the functional properties and technical efficiency of the gym. In practice, this means that they are obliged to carry out regular maintenance and inspections.
Types of control of outdoor gyms
- Periodic inspection
Their purpose is to check whether the equipment poses any hazards due to external factors or as a result of natural wear and tear or vandalism. The subject of inspection is sharp or broken parts, as well as the cleanliness of both the equipment itself and its surroundings. The inspection can be carried out by the gym administrator or his designee and is best performed once a week.
- Functional control
It differs from periodic inspection in much greater detail. It is aimed at assessing the efficiency of the equipment with particular attention to irregularities associated with natural wear and tear. The administrator or his designee checks the moving parts of the equipment, their strength, as well as the condition of the ground. A functional inspection should be carried out at least once every three months.
- Main annual inspection
A very detailed inspection that takes into account all factors that can affect the level of safety. All elements of the equipment and its surroundings are evaluated. Ideally, it should be carried out by outdoor gym specialists independent of the administrator. As the name suggests, it is mandatory to conduct it once a year.
If damage to the outdoor gym equipment or its parts is found during any inspection, it should be maintained as soon as possible. Regular technical inspection and maintenance of outdoor gyms is a guarantee of their safety.
